I absorb water through my center cup and leaves, my roots only keep me held onto trees! In nature, my center cup fills with rainwater, but my personal pond doesn’t stay stagnant for long! Frogs come in and splash around, so the water cycles through quickly!
I'm guessing you don’t have a frog to help maintain me at home, so fill my cup 1/4 of the way full with filtered or distilled water. Once fully absorbed let my cup dry out for a few days and then refill 1/4 of the way. If water sits in my cup for more than a week, dump me out and refresh it so bacteria doesn’t build up in my cup! I also like to be misted 1-2 times a week.
The only fertilizer I can tolerate is worm castings, you can sprinkle some in my cup if you feel I need it.
As for light, direct sun will cause my leaves to burn. Put me a few feet away from a window and my color will stay bright. Keep me away from south-facing windows, which will give me too much light!
